In 2005, They Might Be Giants released a delightful children's CD/DVD album called Here Come the ABCs. They Might Be Giants have been and continue to be a trendsetting musical group. This must-have children's album contains music sure to please both children and parents.
They Might Be Giants, arguably the biggest band in Indie rock music, will keep children happy with their upbeat music. Here Come the ABC's holds a modern sound without a "babyish" feel. Kids will want to get up off their feet and dance and sing along with the energetic music.
Though released by Disney, the animation and puppetry were performed by an independent company. Because of this, it breaks free of popular videos and gives children something unique to watch and listen to. Kids will not be bored with this album.
In all likelihood, children will not even realize that they are learning when they listen to and watch Here Come the ABCs. TMBG found a way to teach educational concepts in a quirky, yet entertaining way. Further, Amazon.com reviewers indicate that this children's CD and DVD combo is appropriate for a wide age range.
Parents might better remember They Might Be Giants for some of their zanier hits in the 90's, such as "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)." Adults might enjoy the personal connection that they have to the Indie band.
Here Comes the ABCs features a diverse musical style of which no one will tire. Styles range from rock and roll ("Who Put The Alphabet In Alphabetical Order"), to country ("I C U"), to psychedelic ("Pictures of Panda's Painting"), to lullaby ("C Is for Conifers"). The album does not define itself by any particular type of music.
The thoughtful lyrics are not dumbed-down. Parents will not mind having these songs stuck in their heads. The biggest selling point - They Might Be Giants bring welcomed relief to the myriad of mindless popular baby and children's music and DVD's.
Amazon.com offers a combo CD/DVD package that contains extra tracks. Be on the lookout for They Might Be Giants Here Come the 123s in early 2008. See Here Come the 123s Preview for more information.
